Providence
HouseProvidence House is a year-round vacation home offering guests a truly special Wildcat on the Bay experience regardless of season. It encompasses traditional design concepts of the arts and crafts Mission-style period, where spacious rooms are outlined by beautiful woodwork. Accentuating the natural beauty are the surrounding Loblolly pines and a beautiful site that offers great views of Chincoteague Bay and its legendary sunsets. Visitors have their choice of places from which to enjoy this grand setting: the Great Room, the several bedrooms' individual private balconies, the spacious screened porch, and both the extended pier and elevated observation deck. Chincoteague Bay is a wonderful combination of water and salt marsh and adjacent pine ridges. The shoreline is a mix of points and coves that invite exploration by kayak or canoe and afford sightings of American egrets, bald eagles, herons, and kingfishers. Truly, Providence House is a year-round haven for the vacationer and wildlife enthusiast. |

The focal point of our home is the Great Room and professional kitchen and dining room. In the Great Room, opposite the stone fireplace, is a truly impressive 20 by 24 foot floor-to-ceiling bay windows, two stories high, affording a commanding view of the bay. The windows here and throughout the house provide abundant natural lighting. The Great Room affords ample and comfortable seating for enjoyment of the satellite TV, the stereo system, and the large assortment of books and magazines The dining room, kitchen, and Great Room are all directly connected, with no barriers to conversation and companionship. The large 12 by 18 foot kitchen has a central island, twin stoves, and a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. The fully stocked kitchen equipment includes a Cuisinart, Kitchen Aid, and coffee latte. Large dinner parties are easily manageable, but the small, intimate dining experience works well here too. |
Each of the five living quarters throughout the first and second
floors offers a full bath and separate balcony, in a layout making for privacy.
The second floor contains the master bedroom, plus the Moose Room with twin
beds for children, and a separate room that can be used either as an isolated
reading or play room. Providence House is served by a three-zone air conditioning
and heating system, and all rooms have variable speed fans. The sliding
glass doors in the master bedroom open onto the elevated sundeck where by
day one can go for the view of the bay and by night for the brilliant stars
overhead.
Providence House lies on the bay's tide line and is connected to Chincoteague Bay by an elevated walkway and dock designed to provide easy access to the water without interfering with views of the bay. The dock allows our guests to enjoy wading, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and crabbing. The rate for Providence House prime season, Memorial Day through Labor Day, is $3100 per week.
