Grandview

Grandview was designed to fill those who visit it with the beauty of Wildcat on the Bay's natural wonders. A true year-round vacation home, Grandview offers guests a quiet and comfortable refuge from which to enjoy the splendors of each season. This spacious house glistens with appealing glass panels and all its rooms feature spectacular views of the surrounding expanse of ever-changing sky, tall pine forest, salt marshes and the sparkling Chincoteague Bay.

Situated at the Bay's tideline, Grandview brings the peace and the power of this expanse of water right into its central Great Room through a dramatic stretch of glass doors and picture windows. Guests feel they can almost touch woodpeckers and other busy birds as they flit through the weathered trees that encircle the house, while also enjoying frequent sightings of water birds beyond the shore line. And at day's end this window to water, sky, and forest frames a panoramic, multi-hued sunset to delight all those who visit here.

Grandview's Great Room features a fireplace framed by french doors leading to a screened deck with a long picnic table ideal for crab feasts and open air eating. Across the way, a unique glass-enclosed alcove, accommodates a graceful dining table seating up to 12 people. Steps away, a fully-appointed kitchen offers

generous cooking space for all sizes of vacation groups. This walk-through kitchen features a conversation bar from which to serve cocktails to adults, hotdogs to children, or provide a perch for those who want to chat with the chefs.

Four separate bedroom suites, each featuring its own bathroom and outdoor balcony, combine interior privacy with access to open air vistas. The master suite above the Great Room claims its own "commanding" view from a unique interior balcony.

Each bedroom suite affords a reading space for guests seeking quiet time. And Grandview's second-story "reading room" offers a special

spot for contemplation of a view that stretches through the pine forest to the salt marshes and tidal creeks. And throughout this home, there are books, books, books. Games, puzzles, a stereo, plus two television/VCR systems, with a selection of CD's and videos, complete the home's indoor entertainment options.

Grandview's direct access to the water assures opportunities for water sports, including canoeing, kayaking and wind surfing. Children are intrigued by the dock and shallow water. Crabbing (pots provided) from the dock is a favorite activity of adventurers of all ages.

But Grandview is much more than a "summer place". The confluence of bay, salt marsh, and pine forest yields an appealing environment that is subtly changing with the seasons. The special luminosity of the early morning and late afternoon sunlight is a photographer's joy and every observer's delight. And the great bird migrations of spring and fall are an extra special attraction

The rate for Grandview prime season, Memorial Day through Labor Day, is $2800 per week, with reduced rates off season.
